German Federal Ministry of Interior re-selects FIS for the third consecutive time

7 July 2014

FIS GmbH, ICTS Europe’s German subsidiary, has been re-awarded the six year contract for the provision of security screening at checkpoints (passenger and hand luggage screening) and hold baggage screening services at Saarbrücken Airport.

In line with Germany’s Aviation Security Law, the responsibility for passenger and hold baggage screening services lies with the Federal Ministry of Interior, which in turn outsources the services to the private security sector.

FIS has a long, successful operational history at Saarbrücken Airport, with a partnership that started in 1996. Passenger numbers have fluctuated through the years at the small international airport, and figures for 2013 exceeded 400,000.
